It's good, but could use some work

First off, I'm probably going to have to state that I'm not a fan of remixes, so I'm much harsher when it comes to those as a result, so I apologize in advance. At least you give proper credit to the original artist unlike most remixers I've come across, so that's a plus.

First off, the drums.. The rhythm change in the later part of your song at 1:20 just doesn't fit at all, and you should probably just keep it similar to the beginning. Not only that, but for some reason the toms just don't flow too well in your song. To be honest, they didn't flow very well in the original either, but it didn't matter for some reason.

Second, the ending, you may want to change it cuz its just one long suspended note and it kinda just comes at ya unexpected because the melody wants to go up, yet it drops way down and sustains when the melody never held for that long. Even if you just shortened this note to the same length as the others, it would still sound much better, but only if that was the very last thing we heard.

I suppose the main plus is what you did with the melody when you changed it after the main part. It was pretty nice. I feel though, for this to be a more true remix, you would have to mask the main melody somehow by not keeping it the same as the original. In my opinion, a good remix makes it not a direct copy of any part of the song, or waits until much later to throw in the direct copied parts, or even does stuff like make the melody become the bassline.

Good work on the song, I just feel if you polished it up some and tightened things up, it has the promise of being a truly great remix. I don't usually review remixes, and by now you can probably see why.

EagleGuard responds:

Hmm, the drum change at 1:20 could use some work, you're right. I kept the toms, because they're a very important part of the song.

I added the suspended note in the end, to make sure the final part wouldn't end too sudden. I'll think about it the next time I write a song.

You're right, it's not a real "remix", more of a spiritual remake. I know this isn't really a remix, so that's why I said in the description that this is a "redone version" of the song.

Thanks for taking your time to write the review ;) I appreciate good criticism much more than a 10 with a one-line review.

Very good.

Very good piano song. I really like piano tunes like this, where they are just all out and energetic. It's nice to hear something that sticks out.

Very good work.

Pretty nice.

Really nice sound to the song. I kinda wish there was more going on, but I understand that it's just a piano kinda thing, so I won't hold that against you.

Maybe bring the drums in sooner or something, because they seem out of place when they finally come in, just to drop out again later.

TheBoredBoy responds:

It's piano and flute, but I understand what you mean.
As for the drums, I see what you mean, I probably will fix this up when I find the .flp, and probably drag the drums in earlier, and give them a better fade.
But anyways, thanks for the review!
:)

Really great sounds

I love it when people get creative with sounds like this. It sounds like some sorta electronic elephant. This would be great music for some sorta torture dungeon or whatever.

Really great work on the sound effects.

samthejokerman responds:

thanks!!! cool idea about the torture dungeon! never heard that before ;) elephant's cool too ^-^

Very cool introduction

Yeah, that intro is just so nice. I really like how soft this song is. Very nice when everything else comes in at 40 seconds. Really great use of instruments. Drums are just so great, and that flute is just perfect. Makes me think of a medieval time full of dragons and castles and stuff and maybe even some leprechauns (don't ask why, but the way the flute flows just makes me think of them).

Very good work.

JeffHeim responds:

Thanks! I know what you mean by the flute sounding like leprechaun music, although that isn't quite what I had in mind when writing this piece lol. I'm glad you enjoyed it!

Really good production

Don't really have much to say other than it's quite a nice production you got going. I kinda wish the song went more places, but that is probably asking too much when it's a trance song...

Great work.

TeKNeTiC responds:

Thanks for the review!

whuuuuuut.

Those are crazy evil sounding drums. I love em. I just wish there was more.

Great sound though.

Good lead guitar

Just maybe make it longer, and maybe bring the harmony guitar way more up front cuz it's pretty far back there and hard to hear. ONe thing that may help bring it up front is to just take out a few frequencies on the lead guitar to give it room. Drums are pretty far back there too, hardly noticeable..

The lead guitar sounds very nice though. Very good work, and I Feel if you polish this up it will be a lot better as a result.

Great work.

Solid

It's really good production. I like how fluid it is and how well it flows.

You may want to fix the drums because I just realized they are actually there, but can hardly hear the bass percussion.

Great work though.

aliaspharow responds:

Yeah i know about the drums! I could make it a bit louder and it would sound better, but it still remains in the style of the song.

Guitar EQuing needs work

Your guitar EQing needs to be working on cuz its got too many high frequencies and not enough lower ones.

The song would be a lot better if the guitars were EQed better. HOwever, the song itself is a nice idea. It's just a shame that the EQing on the guitars really ruin it due to no low sounds coming out.

I like to compose music. I also like to draw.
